Day 2 at the Pillow

Yes hello.
So my intention was to post every day, but I couldn't get wifi here yesterday so I'll just write an extra long post today.

So the reason I am writing this blog is for a couple of reasons. Number one, I'm getting graded on it. Number two, I need to write down my feelings because I have a lot of feelings. Don't expect it to be professional because I just don't want it to be like that.

First of all I just have to say thank you to everyone who supported me and got me through the tough feelings that led me to be here today.

Thank you to my awesome professors at USM both in theatre and media studies because without the knowledge I gained I wouldn't be here. To my school friends thanks for accepting me and making me realize that I can do great things.

Thank you to my students, parents, and dance family who continues to support me endlessly even though I am missing crucial parts of the season to be here.

Day 1:
So yesterday basically consisted of me driving. The view was amazing and I'm basically on top of a mountain right now. Yesterday was disgustingly hot and humid, although I'm used to it. Thank you Maine. There are people here from all over the world. It's crazy to see how much dance brings people together from all aspects of life and immediately I could tell that we were going to all get really close at the Pillow over the summer.

This place is so unique. It's like walking through a museum that the exhibits are still in use. There's nothing like it. I've learned that there are bears, mice, and lots of mosquitos.

I'm literally standing in places that legends of dance did. yas

Day 2:
Today was as equally hot as yesterday although it's now thunder storming like the world is going to end. This morning we got to finally chat with our specific departments which mine is video documentation if you didn't know already.
The best part about this internship is that you can learn from other departments as well as my own. I can take classes on lighting and stagecraft even though I'll still be documenting the entire festival. As a video intern I get an amazing opportunity to see every single thing that happens at the festival.
Today I helped start to set up the newly constructed editing space that is luckily air conditioned. We work with the archives department which is awesome because I'm already learning so much history about this place.

So yeah, I hope I can post some pictures but I just wanted to give you all a quick update.
I'm so excited to be here and can't wait to start taking classes:)

I miss you all and I can't wait to see you all soon!
Come visit me:)
